About The Event
Conductor: Riccardo Bianchi
One of Byrd’s most famous works is his Four Voices Mass, which is a setting of the Ordinary of the Catholic Mass for four vocal parts – a shining example of the English Renaissance, a period of great creativity and artistic achievement in England. His mass and motets have stood the test of time. They are a beautiful and moving example of sacred choral music, and it’s just as relevant and inspiring today as it was when it was first composed. Byrd’s work is historically significant – composed during a time of religious conflict. Byrd was a Catholic in a Protestant country, and his music reflects his struggle to maintain his faith.
